Edition 2010 - Networking Evening
Across the board success for the Networking Event of the Fondation « Notre relève en affaires »

Saint-Antoine-Abbé, November 10, 2010 - It was in a most charming and convivial atmosphere that the Fondation « Notre relève en affaires » held last November 9th, its first NETWORKING EVENT. Over one hundred people were in attendance, to network, as well as exchange and share their knowledge and business experience.

Back ground music was provided by regional group Avec Marie, guests were invited to sample succulent hors d’œuvres and refreshments offered by entrepreneurs of the region, guests undeniably savoured their evening. Future, young and experienced entrepreneurs alike, were charmed by the festive ambiance of this event, allowing them to establish contacts with other entrepreneurs of all business sectors of Beauharnois-Salaberry and Haut-Saint-Laurent.

The Fondation « Notre relève en affaires » aims to stimulate entrepreneurship. In doing so, it contributes in creating employment and helps prevent the exodus of our young people. To do so, it collects funds from private businesses and organizations of the MRC Beauharnois-Salaberry and Haut-Saint-Laurent and redistributes them in the form of grants or loans to young people under the age of 35, having submitted a business project or acquisition, or having developed an entrepreneurial project in a school context or summer project.

Armed with this success, we can inevitably confirm that, thanks to this evening, the Fondation « Notre relève en affaires » attained both its objectives, which were to offer a venue to entrepreneurs that favours networking and make the Fondation « Notre relève en affaire » better known to businesses in the region.

Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, March 25th, 2010 - It is by special invitation, last Tuesday evening, where a group of over 50 people attended a conference given by Mr. Claude Picher, Business Columnist at La Presse. The Fondation « Notre relève en affaires » in collaboration with Caisse Desjardins Notre-Dame-de-Bellerive was extremely pleased to offer their guests the opportunity to share with a personality of the business world, such as Mr. Picher, for who figures and budgets hold no secrets.

Journalist for the past 43 years, more particularly at La Presse since 1979, Mr. Picher is known for his written popularization of financial terms, but also for his multiple conferences and participation in numerous television and radio programs. He is also the author of a book on personal finances.

Mr. Picher is not at his first examination and in depth reading of his first budget, since the beginning of his career as a journalist, he has analyzed no less than 63 budgets! Who better to express his opinions on the various decisions of our politicians. After having entertained his audience on the Québec Public Debt, which as we know, is at the forefront of the current economic scene, guests were invited to question the lack of succession plans, taxation, debt ratio, immigration, political promises as well as other current event subjects, Mr. Picher expertly addressed his audience while sharing his opinion, sometimes boldly, not always unanimously, but true to his colors.

In conclusion, Monsieur Picher confirmed that the Beauharnois-Salaberry region like most other regions of Québec has had its share of economic problems, but was on the right track with the initiatives and local implication such as « La Fondation notre relève en affaires » who assist young people between the ages of 12 and 35 to start-up or acquire a business, a region can distinguish itself and succeed on an economic level.

Mr. Picher was extremely generous with his time and the guests were most appreciative of this privilege.
